AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT COVID19

What a different world we live in all of a sudden. The coronavirus is having a serious effect on just about everyone and everything. Our hearts go out to all those who are seriously affected right now, right around the globe through death of loved ones, illness, isolation, loss of job, financial insecurity and so on. As a result of this virus we are also affected as a church community. Having previously suspended our face-to-face worship gatherings we are now…

The Church has left the Building!

Like the rest of the world we have found ourselves in a difficult place as a result of the coronavirus, known as COVID-19. In an attempt to ‘flatten the curve’, our Australian Federal and State Governments, like governments around the world, have put in place strategies limiting our movements, and for very good reason. We fully support efforts to do whatever we can to protect the vulnerable, especially the elderly and those with chronic illness. This is no truer for…

School Community Blessing

One of the great joys of ministry is making connections across the local community. Our congregation has a long history of providing financial support to school chaplains who are working in local schools. This has been made possible through our Op Shop ministry which in itself is a way we connect with our local community. Each year we invite our school chaplains to a special commissioning service and have linked this with a blessing for the whole school. We this…

It’s Christmas time again

It’s Christmastime once again and the church and local community are gearing up to celebrate. Our congregation is once again teaming up with Robina C3 Church to present the Mudgeeraba Community Carols event on Sunday 1st December. This event to be held at Firth Park is always popular with locals who flock to it in their thousands each year. There will be food stalls on-site or people can bring their own food and make a picnic of it. Link to…

A cafe provides morning and afternoon teas…

GREAT OUTBACK BARBECUE

In the midst of a severe drought Aussie farmers are doing it tough. Standing alongside them are Bush Chaplains, provided through Frontier Services, an agency of the Uniting Church in Australia. “Our Aussie Farmers are doing it really tough. With flooding in Northern Queensland, to bush fires down in Tasmania, and drought gripping over 50% of the country, some farmers say it’s the worst weather conditions they’ve ever experienced in their lifetime. These recent natural disasters have had a devastating…

What was it like Mary?

What was it like Mary, to see your boy, your precious boy hanging on that cross, shamed and dying? You knew it from the beginning didn’t you, that your boy was different, set apart? The angel had told you so, but did you really expect it to end like this, you who bore him in your womb, you who cradled and cuddled him and nursed him at your breast; you who taught him and trained him, guided and disciplined him?…

Easter! More than hot-cross buns!

It was just a few days after Christmas when the major supermarkets in Australia stocked their shelves with Good Friday’s hot-cross buns. They do it every year in spite of howls of protests from the general public. Of course, for the retail sector Easter is simply another marketing opportunity and clearly, the product sells, so for all those who protest many more don’t share their concern. The significance of the Christian seasons is of little interest to the likes of…

Christmas celebrations at Mudgeeraba Uniting

You’re invited to be our guests as celebrate the wonder of Christmas at Mudgeeraba Uniting Church. Our Christmas Eve service at 6.30 pm and our Christmas morning service at 8.00 am feature many of the much-loved carols. While it is tempting to introduce contemporary Christmas songs we know that many people who attend worship at Christmas appreciate the traditional carols. Of course, we also hear the story of the first Christmas as recorded in the Gospels.

Mudgeeraba’s Community Carols

Mudgeeraba’s Community Carols are just around the corner, taking place at Firth Park on Sunday November 25th from 4.30 pm. Our church is heavily involved in the planning and running of this event along with C3 Church. Our local school chappies host the first part of the program featuring choirs from state schools in the area. There will also be a combined schools orchestra featuring over a hundred children. It is expected that Santa will also make a guest appearance.…

The Village Craft Fair is coming

Come this Friday and Saturday the church grounds and building will be abuzz with the sights and sounds of people eager to find a bargain at our legendary Craft Fair. The church family has a number of stalls selling craft products (obviously!) along with the usual cakes, jams and chutneys and a plant stall, while a host of other stall holders from the community will be selling their home-made wares. We have also arranged a selection of art which is…

At the close of Mental Health Week

On Sunday we are  basing our service around the issue of mental health. The 2014 Qld Synod meeting (State body of the Uniting Church) encouraged congregations to join in the Mental Health Week Day of Prayer which marks the end of Mental Health Week, a government initiative aimed at reducing the stigma around mental health in our community. This year’s theme is #valuementalhealth It is estimated that one in five Australians are affected by mental illness at some point in…
