Today we look at the intriguing story of the man born blind who is healed by Jesus. You can read it in John 9: 1-41. The healing happens on a Sabbath, which upsets the Pharisees. The disciples see the man as an object for a theological discussion about sin while the man’s parents want to keep their distance. As we see in John’s Gospel, metaphors are again at work. This is not so much about physical blindness, but rather spiritual blindness. It’s more about insight than sight! The blind man ‘gets it’ while the Pharisees end up even further in the dark.
