Vale George O’Brien OAM. George O’Brien, previous well-beloved principal of Mudgeeraba State School for many years and longtime member of the Mudgeeraba Community Band, passed away recently.
George was a founding member of the Mudgeeraba Community Band on tuba as well as other brass instruments, and assisted with the establishment and development of the Mudgeeraba Music Centre.
George was a military man – wearing the light horse costume for special occasions and – as the official bugler for 20+ years – playing the bugle at the Mudgeeraba RSL Anzac Day Parade.
He and his wife Denise have been members of Mudgeeraba Uniting Church for many years.
His funeral is to be held at 11 am at Mudgeeraba Uniting Church 89 Franklin Drive Mudgeeraba on Wednesday 19th March. (This has been rescheduled due to the effects of ex-cyclone Alfred). Family and friends are invited to the Mudgeeraba Showgrounds for refreshments following the service.
